Well yeah, on Diwali I updated this status on Facebook, and faced a critic reaction from almost everyone who replied, but that’s it, I feel what I felt then, and dun think if I ain’t right totally, I even ain't wrong.

Diwali the festival of useless gifts... unusual packing... unwilling tiredness... unwanted pollution... and off course the hated peaks in annual expenditure...

Well we always learned that "Diwali is the festival lights...", even today when toddlers prepare their speech/recitation for schools/extempore this is the beginning line, well in reality... is it?...

Diwali - the festival of useless gifts

This part is absolutely pathetic, exchanging gifts for the sake of exchanging, looks as if these gifts were made to just travel along families and friends (and if you were unfortunate then it will return to you too!... :P). We have to set-up a special cupboard to store in these useless gifts so that we can put them to a better use next year... Exchange them.. :)... The most pathetic gifts I've opened so far include a out of fashion Dining set, having a very old sticker with manufacturing date of early nineties, useless bowls, weirdly colored, using them in the kitchen means you will have to wear a clown dress to accompany them, one of my friends received a weird ash-tray, which seemed as if it had a dual purpose, ash tray as well as a tiny fruit basket, pretty much sucked, in order to put into use, she would have to start smoking. Well I can list down hundreds of them but these were some of the worst, others include stupid night lamps, and super-pathetic mantle pieces.

Diwali - the festival of useless packing

Packing, Packing, Packing... obviously I am talking about packing useless gifts, even the packing is useless. We tend to use packing, to cover up what lies inside, stupid and pathetic. I have to resist my desire to open gifts in front of the guest who brought them, yes I want to open that in front of them, and tell them how stupid it was, and want to hear their answers on how they cover up for it, but our families stop us from doing that on pretext of "etiquettes". The ordeal doesn’t ends here, at least try using the same gift paper when wrapping a large box, and at least make those creases sit neatly, that I think will never ever happen to me, I might complain again and again.

Diwali - the festival of unwilling tiredness

there are a plethora of "Work"(s) to be completed, apart from cleaning the house (which is nice, that’s once in the year we tend to clean untouched corners of the house...) apart from that, visiting every one and anyone, we met last Diwali, yeah, these  are people who we meet us only once every year.

There has been a number of campaigns and articles and news, everything about crackers and related BS, but little do people refrain from ending that shit!...

The best part I have come to know is that all the cracker factories have gone automated to cut down child labor as it’s been a highlighted topic since eighties I suppose.

Diwali - the festival of hated peaks in annual expenditure

Yeah, considering the inflation and prices of all most every commodity risen and still rising, it already hard for a middle class family of ours to cope up, and festivities like these, conducts the ultimate test of life skills (tough I envy the people having businesses earning 50% to 80% their income in black, are really enjoying, because it’s somewhat because of them, tax payer families suffer...)

Diwali - the festival of some uninvited G*****

here the G***** stands for GUESTS, pretty much people we tend to see on Diwali bringing useless gifts, the guests, some of them are totally unwanted, like is neighbor family, which is least helpful to anyone, totally retard and bunch of ugly gits!, the whole year the suck, and its during just this time of the year I see them incoming, and we going to their house, it’s totally gross.

Diwali - the festival of lights!....

Finally back to square one, I believe that when it is said Diwali is the festival of lights it indicates that we use natural sources of lights Diyas and maybe candles, but 21st century Diwali is all about showing of what can you afford off. A well off house will be having a bunch of those imported fancy lights, like a cover on their entire house, on the other hand, the monetary weaker ones might be having a single or even two of those cheap Chinese ladis available.

Diwali - for me....

Diwali for me since I moved in here has been without crackers and just with family, I suddenly grew up to an understanding, how poor these cracker stuff was, so totally quit it. On the other hand, this time of the year since past 2-3 years have been a rough on relative's health’s, last year I remember, was at the hospital because one of my uncle was not doing well (later he passed away.. :() this year it was one of my cousin grannies, so it’s like this is rough patch in the entire year...
