Had a real bad experience finding an original battery for my Samsung Omnia W GT-i8350. But finally bought the original one from the Samsung service center, that too only writing to the CEOs office (that's a different story altogether). So without wasting anytime, I would like you to have a look at the following illustrations and guess for yourselves which is original and which is fake. At the end of the post I would give you a detailed picture about each. For this we will be using three identical batteries Model: eb484659vu which fits in omnia w, wave 3, etc.

Illustration 1:

[caption id="attachment_947" align="aligncenter" width="500"]Illustration 1 Illustration 1[/caption]

Red Markings: Have a look at the red markings on all the three batteries. You can clearly see there is an extended silver color tab towards the end in Battery 1 and 2. But this is missing on Battery 2.

Yellow Markings: The "S" and "G" characters in word "SAMSUNG" are a bit offset on Battery 2.

Green Markings: The font color on Battery 1 and 3 is white where as on battery 2 is simply grey as there is just black color on ther battery and to display the font, the color is simply missing

Illustration 2:

Red Markings: Again have a look at the red markings and you will have the same findings as in Illustration 1.

Yellow Markings: The ending of the silver Samsung sticker are on the same side on battery 1 and 3 but not on battery 2. Moreover if you see, the stickers are in counter clockwise direction around the battery if seen from top but on battery 2 it is clockwise.

Green Markings: The font color on Battery 1 and 3 is white where as on battery 2 is simply grey as there is just black color on the battery and to display the font, the color is simply missing.

Illustration 3:

[caption id="attachment_949" align="aligncenter" width="500"]Illustration 3 Illustration 3[/caption]

Green Markings: Have a clear look at the fitting tabs made in the battery. within this tab there are some circular depressions within the tab. But this depression is missing in Battery 2.

Illustration 4:

[caption id="attachment_950" align="aligncenter" width="500"]Illustration 4 Illustration 4[/caption]

Have a look at the plastic around the contacts. the color of Battery 1 and 2 is "black" whereas on battery 2 it is "Grey".

Illustration 5:

[caption id="attachment_951" align="aligncenter" width="500"]Illustration 5 Illustration 5[/caption]

Green Markings: again have a look at the missing circular depressions in tab on the other side of the batter. Also again you can have a look the grey and black plastic difference.

About the batteries:

Battery 1: this is the original battery which came with the phone. It went bad sometime ago, as it was left completely swollen after one year of use.

Battery 2: I bought this battery from a seller from rediff shopping this battery is being sold by multiple retailers online on ebay, rediff, shopclues, etc. But all of them will claim that it comes in loose packing with a Samsung 3D hologram on the plastic covering.

Battery 3: I got this one ordered from Samsung service center at Tagore Garden, New Delhi. The service center people are not very good with communications with customer. I had someone make regular rounds there, but they simply did not bother to get one arranged. I simply mailed the CEO's office and the very next morning I received call from the Samsung HQ who was in conference with the manager at the service center. After my explanation, the manager said she would get it arranged by evening next day at all costs. Finally it came in loose packing, but it was much much much different than the loose packing seller sent in. Moreover they opened it for me and handed me an original Samsung bill. Moreover this battery comes with an original Samsung warranty for 6 months.

Eventually the battery i bought from rediff seller was a fake one. But I must say a pretty impressive fake. It would give you almost the same backup. Looks 95% like the original and is backed it by the seller warranty and yes I even got it replaced the seller once. So the warranty works. But if for the same price I am given an opportunity to buy between the two, I would rather stick to original.'

Hope My findings help you spot the fakers.

Cheers!
